Changing the shape of your eyebrows can dramatically change the appearance of your face. Before you buy tweezers and begin plucking, it is very important that you know what you want your eyebrows to look like. Though there is no physiological reason for it, many women find that their eyebrow hair does not always grow back after it has been tweezed.
Eyebrow Shaping
The hairs that you remove and the hairs that you leave can greatly affect the appearance of your eyebrows, and may be the difference between an attractively shaped brow and a misshapen mess. For example, if you tweeze too much hair from beneath the brow, you may end up with a permanently surprised look. If you tweeze too much hair from the part of the brow that is near the nose, you will make your eyes appear small.
Before you begin tweezing, use a lip or brow pencil to draw on the shape that you want. The beginning of your brow should line up with the center of the nostril. The arch of the brow should begin to fall towards the back third of your eye. Though the eyebrow should be as long as possible, it should not extend too far into the temple area.
Tweezing Eyebrows
When choosing a tool to shape your eyebrows, it is best to find a pair of tweezers that have a tip that is rounded to a soft point. Tweezers that are too pointy could damage your skin; and if the tip is too flat, the tweezers could grab your skin along with the hair.
Once you have decided on your brow shape and picked up a reliable pair of tweezers, you can begin tweezing your eyebrows. Using the shape that you drew with a lip or brow pencil as a guide, tweeze any hairs that fall outside this shape. Remember, it is important to move slowly and carefully. Once hair has been removed, it may not come back. After you have finished tweezing, use an old toothbrush to brush the plucked brows straight up. If any of the hair seems too long, trim it with small scissors.
Tweezing Tips
To achieve the look that you want, it is very important to employ all of the tips that you learned above. Here are a few other things to keep in mind when shaping your brows:
-
Do not over-tweeze.
-
Never tweeze above the brow.
-
Do not pluck brows in a thin line.
-
Remember, a natural shape should be your goal.
If you make a mistake while tweezing, there are many different types of eyebrow products on the market that can help. Eyebrow gels and mascara will keep eyebrow hairs in a certain place, and you can also try shading your brow with eyebrow pencils and powders.
