A New Botox Treatment Method for Rhinitis

Updated Oct 28, 2009

Popular anti-wrinkle treatment Botox sometimes sparks controversy, especially among the Hollywood crowd, but it also has health benefits. It is also used to treat rhinitis, which causes runny nose and sneezing. Initially the Botox was administered by injection, but a new study has shown an equally effective method according to published reports.

Researchers at the University Medical Center in Göttingen, Germany, have found that applying sponges dipped in Botox works just as well as injections for treating rhinitis. Rainer Laskawi, who was involved in the research offered this explanation, “Intrinsic rhinitis affects a lot of patients and can be quite disabling for the patient. Botox injections can help, and we wanted to explore a less invasive alternative.”

The results showed significant improvement in symptoms for those involved in the study. One thing is certain; this is one Botox treatment most people won’t mind admitting to.
