It has been found that many graduates are requesting plastic surgery procedures as a reward for making it through college. It has been suggested that this might be an attempt to boost their competitiveness in the job market.

Dr. Tony Youn of Youn Plastic Surgery said of the trend, “Typically every spring there`s an increase in the amount of calls from people who are wanting plastic surgery as graduation gifts.” He also expressed concern at the number of high school graduates seeking breast augmentation.

According to Dr. Youn, TV shows which deal with plastic surgery may be fueling the increasing demand among teens. Nose jobs and liposuction are among the most frequently requested plastic surgery gifts among graduates the reports state.
