American Men Going Under The Knife for Beauty’s Sake

Updated Jan 18, 2007

American men are no longer allowing just the fairer sex to look younger and healthier through the wonders of cosmetic surgery. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) states that between 2000 and 2005 there has been an increase of 16% of men having cosmetic procedures done. According to the ASPS the most popular procedures for men are breast reductions, tummy tucks, lip augmentation, liposuction and eyelid surgery. A breakdown of the various procedures show a whopping 458% increase in lip augmentation since 2000.

This dramatic increase is being fuelled by a growing baby boomer population who want to not only look younger, but also continue to be competitive in the job and dating market.
