Leave it to the Hollywood crowd to popularize another unusual skincare trend. According to online reports the Apitherapy skincare range was a popular item among the gifts given at the Golden Globes awards show recently. The main ingredient used in the skin products is bee venom.
The range is sold by Holland and Barrett, a major seller of vitamin and herbal supplements. It was created by South Korean scientists using mild electricity to cause the bees to produce venom. According to researchers, when applied to the skin, this ingredient stimulates the production of collagen. The Apitherapy range is reportedly a favorite of celebs like Victoria Beckham and Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall.
