The latest development in the skincare arena utilizes proteins from mussels according to reports online. The creators of a new product believe that the protein can work in a manner similar to collagen. This is the result of collaboration between Novacell Technology and Kollodis BioSciences.
The two companies have created a new skincare range based on this discovery. Kollodis BioSciences is the first company to successfully use recombinant mussel adhesive protein in a commercial application. The technology is called MAPTrix™ ECM and Novacell has used it in its LAAC range of cosmeceutical skincare products.
President and CEO of Novacell Taehoon Lee was quoted as saying of the new offering, “We have finished the installation of the manufacture line and have now entered the sales phase. We are confident that the cosmeceutical market will find our LAAC products as an exciting alternative to existing cosmeceutical products currently on the market.”
