The Australian Department of Transport and Regional Services has issued new guidelines governing the carrying of cosmetics and toiletries on airplanes. Passengers traveling in and out of
Australia can now only carry with them cosmetics that are less than 100ml. This measure comes more than six months after similar measures by American and European airline authorities. Like their foreign counterparts, Australian authorities said the restriction on cosmetics is a response to last Augusts’ plot to blow up airliners using explosives made from liquids and gels.
Similar to current rules in the
US and
Europe, all cosmetics and toiletries being taken on board must be placed in transparent ziplock bags. The bags will be limited to one per passenger. The new measures come into effect on March 31.
