Bioterrorism experts in the
USA are calling for tighter measures to protect consumer goods such as toiletries and cosmetics from being used as a weapon against Americans. This they said can be done by deliberately putting poisons in or spreading communicable diseases through consumables.
The US Bioterrorism Act is said to be lacking in substance in regards to safeguarding cosmetic products. President of natural pharmaceutical company, SiCap, Wayne Perry noted in an interview that “the need exists for industry players to go beyond tamperproof packaging to actually securing products at the point of production”. He also noted that employee screening in the cosmetic industry needs to be more stringent.
