The growing demand for cosmetic procedures in the
UK has been placed squarely at the feet of celebrities who are no longer hiding the fact that they had something fixed. According to Mintel International Group (a market research company), an estimated seven hundred thousand (700,000) cosmetic procedures will be done in the
United Kingdom by the end of 2006. This is a staggering forty percent (40%) rise over 2005. The cosmetic surgery industry is expected to generate earnings in excess of six hundred and fifty-nine million pounds ($1.2 billion) in 2007.
The report noted that improved and readily available information on cosmetic treatment, as well as television, has contributed to the number of Britons having procedures done. The most popular procedures are Botox injections, breast augmentation and facelifts.
