Air travelers who don`t want to risk losing their cosmetics, hair- and skin-care products in checked luggage can pack solid alternatives in their carry-on bags.

Since the ban on liquid products was instituted for airline flights last week, some of Hemphill`s clients have made such beauty adjustments as trading their liquid blushes for powders.
Other cosmetic coping strategies include switching from liquid to pencil eyeliner and applying waterproof mascara before the flight. "The main thing is to take everything dry," Hemphill said.
Cosmetic companies that already specialize in products that don`t pour have stepped up efforts to promote liquid-free beauty tips for air travelers.
The online beauty community Carefair.com suggests buying powder shampoo, conditioner and perfume such as Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder and
Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, which originated in the
"Sixty-six percent of Lush products come in solid form," said company spokeswoman Brandi Hall. "One of the driving forces behind the brand is to try to be as natural as possible."
Striving for low or no preservatives in its products led Lush to create a variety of solid alternatives, Hall said.
"We extract the water content from the product because that takes out the need to have a preservative," she said.
