Last year according to figures from the American Society of plastic Surgeons, over 920,000 Hispanic Americans had some type of cosmetic procedure done in 2005. This represents a staggering 66.7% increase over the same period in 2004. Part of the reason given for this drastic increase is the availability of financing to pay for cosmetic procedures. In addition the economic conditions among Latinos are also improving making it possible for them to fund cosmetic procedures. Reality TV shows such as Extreme Makeover and the openness of celebrities about their plastic surgeries have also contributed to the rise.
