An injectable soft tissue filler has received FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approval making the way for the product to hit the markets by mid 2007. The product known as CTA (cosmetic tissue augmentation), is used for reducing wrinkles, lip augmentation and minimizing scarring. It is based on an Anika Therapeutics proprietary technology modified hyaluronic acid. Anika will be filing amendments to CTA with the FDA and the European Union regulatory agencies so as to offer an enhanced product for sale.
Anika Therapeutics, Inc is a US-based Company that specializes in manufacturing tissue protection and treatment products using the naturally occurring polymer found in the body, hyaluronic acid.
