The largest beauty products producer in Israel, Ahava Cosmetics, is taking some heat from a US organization. According to published reports, anti-war organization Code Pink has started a boycott of the company to protest the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian West Bank. The group used the Cosmoprof North America tradeshow to kick start its movement, called Stolen Beauty.
The group takes issue with the fact that while Ahava’s products are labeled as being made in Israel, they are actually produced at a plant in the West Bank. Protesters could be seen in bikinis carrying placards at the tradeshow. Code Pink seeks to make consumers aware of the practices of the company and to prevent Ahava from profiting from the occupation.
