The latest figures from Mintel shows that the number of non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in the
UK increased by 242,000 since 2005, moving from 230, 000 to 472,000. The drastic increase in non-invasive procedures is being driven by consumer belief that they are safer than more invasive procedures. Popular non-invasive procedures for
UK consumers include injectable fillers and Botox, chemical peels and cosmetic dentistry.
There has also been a steady rise in the demand for more invasive plastic surgeries such as facelifts, nose jobs and breast enhancement. Rhinoplasty (nose jobs) was most popular among male.
Mintel forecast for that spending on cosmetic procedures will exceed £1 billion in 2008.
