As it turns out, even the recession might not have been as bad for the beauty sector as most people have thought. According to reports online, the sluggish economy actually helps the beauty business in some ways. Recent research done in Texas suggests that both men and women spent more on cosmetics and grooming products to feel attractive.
Assistant professor at Texas Christian University, Sarah E. Hill feels that this is nothing new. In fact, she noted that this trend goes as far back as The Great Depression. Interestingly, the jump in beauty products sales was not only noted in the USA. Other countries including France, Argentina and Mexico have also experienced increased sales of personal care products during times when the economic situation is bleak.
