Girls Making Earlier Beauty Steps

Updated Aug 20, 2010

It should come as no surprise that teens are as keen on makeup as many adults. The latest reports suggest that young girls are trying makeup at an even earlier age. In fact more middle school and elementary school girls are showing more interest.

Part of this may due to the relationship of these girls with their mothers. The study, done by The NPD Group suggests that salon themed parties may be helping to drive this interest. The analysis also indicates that as these girls get older they may lose interest in some of the beauty products.

Lipstick and lip gloss use was the most popular among girls. The study also showed that young girls liked eye products like mascara.
