Based on a recent survey in
London, it was found that the incidence of contact dermatitis resulting from hair dye use had increased by more than 7%. A study published in the latest copy of the British Medical Journal blames the increase on allergic reaction, especially among young adults from an active ingredient in hair dyes. The ingredient, para-
phenylenediamine (PPD) has been banned in some European countries including
France,
Germany and
Sweden.
