French plastic surgeon, Roger Amar’s two-in-one cosmetic surgery procedure that removes fat from a woman’s hip which is then used to plump the face is set to be launched in the UK. The procedure, Fat Auto-Graft Muscle Injection or FAMI, is said to be a two-hour operation done under local anesthesia.
Patients who have the procedure have a quicker recovery time of ten days which is less than half that for most other cosmetic surgeries. Costing £10,000, FAMI is more expensive that a facelift and liposuction done separately.
According to Dr. Amar, the procedure is best for persons whose faces have become too slim due to dieting and exercising, and is not suitable for previous facelift patients. Dr. Amar will be opening a clinic in the UK sometime in 2008 where the surgery will be offered.
