In a world where anti-aging products rake in billions of dollars, people are always looking for cheap ways to turn back the clock. According to reports found online, one way may be as simple as cutting back on chewing gum. In the report, it was stated that plastic surgeons were claiming that too much gum chewing could lead to wrinkles around the mouth.
Plastic surgeon and dermatologist Dr. Joel Schlessinger was quoted on the subject as saying, “Many of my patients who are gum chewers have a certain pattern of wrinkles around their mouth. And I think the gum is responsible to some degree for it.”
To date no hard data has been presented to support this theory. It is also felt that people who have had anti-wrinkle treatments should avoid this habit as well according to the article in the telepgraph.co.uk.
