A jury recently awarded the maximum allowed in the case of a woman who died after having plastic surgery. Maritess Lopez, reports state, had what is known as a mommy makeover. The suit which was filed claims that she was sent home despite having trouble breathing. She died the next day.
The jury returned a verdict against the defendant Dr. Matthew Galumbeck, awarding $1.95 million to the woman’s family. Her procedures included a tummy tuck, breast lift and liposuction. The attorney for Dr. Galumbeck has insisted that Lopez received quality care, and has indicated that a motion will be filed to set aside the verdict.
