The drive towards creating environmentally safe cosmetics is not just for adults anymore. A new range of eco-body care products targeted at teens is set to debut in late September. The Teens Turning Green range will be sold at Whole Foods Markets. The line is the result of a partnership between Teens for Safe Cosmetics and seven companies that feature green brands.
Teens for Safe Cosmetics is a nonprofit organization focused on increasing awareness of the health risks posed by cosmetics ingredients. The products will be marketed via online outreach in the form of podcasts, YouTube videos, in-school promotions and social networking sites. Founder and Director of the nonprofit, Judi Shils noted, “We`re a nonprofit and don`t have a huge budget, we rely on more nontraditional tactics to get the message... to... different markets.”
A series of “Teens Turning Green” concerts are planned for each area where Whole Foods operates. The first is planned for October in New York City.
