Thirty-seven year old actress, Uma Thurman said that she was definitely an ugly child, and that she ‘finds it odd to be seen as a sex symbol’. The Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction star said in an interview that, “I didn’t feel doors were going to open for me for being cute, so I worked hard at everything.”

In describing herself as a child, Thurman said, “I had baby fat and a big nose, big lips and big eyes that looked like they were taped to the side of my head.” Some biographies state that a friend’s mother suggested she have a nose job when she was just 10. In a 2001 interview in Talk Magazine, Thurman admitted to a bout of body dysmorphic disorder. The 6-foot tall actress is also known to have large feet; with some reports stating that she wears size 11 shoes.

Today, Thurman, a former model and spokesperson for a number of beauty brands is seen as a standard of beauty.
