A new breast reduction technique has brought relief to African American women who need breast reduction surgery but are afraid of the risk of scarring. An article published in the latest issue of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal reports that a new liposuction technique may bring a solution. According to the article, liposuction breast reduction offers darker skinned women who are more prone to scarring a ‘scarless alternative’.

The article states however, that this procedure is primarily for women who experience pain from too large breasts and not for cosmetic purposes. Liposuction breast reduction is not ideal for restoring firmness to sagging breasts. The procedure, unlike traditional breast reduction surgery cannot reduce breast size by much.
