The rising use of marine extracts in the cosmetic industry has given rise to concerns about the future sustainability of the marine environment. The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) discussed this issue in a recent paper from its Fisheries and Aquaculture Department.
However, this has not stopped cosmetic manufacturers from honing in on the resources from the sea to make their innovative products. One of the newest entrants into this sector is UK-based Adina Cosmetics Ingredients. Adina has reported created a new range of hair care extracts using marine resources.
One of the products from the range includes Inula HC which is said to create a “regenerative and protective action on hair.” The company says that Inula HC “Conditions the hair for ease of combing… and improves the brightness and length of wear for semi permanent colors.”
