Marine-based Skin Care Ingredient to Be Available Next Year

Updated Dec 31, 2006

With the anti-aging product market valuing in excess of $50 billion it is no surprise that companies are going all out to produce newer and better products. This growth is expected to continue for some time.

Canadian-based Atrium Biotechnologies hopes to take over the cosmetic market with the introduction of algae-based anti-aging ingredients. The new cosmetic ingredient line, Homeosta-Sea, will according to the company ‘when used in combination...protect the skin against damage caused by sun exposure, pollution, aging and inflammation’. In addition, Atrium claims that the active ingredients ‘fight the signs of aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles…and making the skin more resistant to daily aggressions.’   All the ingredients are reportedly found in the Atlantic Ocean.

Atrium Biotechnologies worked with Oceanova Biotechnologies to create the line. The cosmetics products made from the Homeosta-Sea ingredients are expected to result in younger looking and healthier skin.
