The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) reported that Americans had over 455,000 liposuction surgeries in 2005. However, a procedure known as micro liposuction or precision liposuction is being increasingly used to tackle fat deposits in areas not normally given much attention.
Micro liposuction is being used to drain fat from knees, the back (bra fat), the chin and upper arms.
The procedure is being done primarily by those who cannot seem to lose the excess fat in these areas despite exercise, diet and in some cases, liposuction. There is increasing concern that the willingness of people to risk their health for the perfect body may be going too far with these ‘minor’ fixes.
