On the heels of the fears over the PIP implants, another set has prompted intervention by authorities. Health authorities in Germany have revealed that a company in that country sold breast implants that are similar to the controversial PIP implants. The company, GfE Medizintechnik GmbH sold TiBREEZE implants until August 2004.

Concerns were raised after it was found that PIP breast implants contain an industrial form of silicone. Now German authorities have warned the public about the possible dangers of the products, even though no firm health risk has been established.

The company’s owner revealed that the breast implants have been sold in a number of countries including South Africa and England. The USA was not named among the countries where as many as 400 women are thought to have been recipients.
