New Anti-Aging Ingredient to be Available Next Year

Updated Dec 21, 2006

Australian researchers have developed a new anti-aging ingredient, GGC (gamma glutamyl cysteine). The belief is that GGC will be used in cosmetics, especially in creams that will work by repairing aged skin.   The ingredient is also being explored as an additive to other cosmetic products as well as for use in toothpastes, health care items and food products.

The researchers, Dr. Wallace Bridge and Dr. Martin Zarka from the University of South Wales in Australia took nine years to develop a cost-effective way to manufacture GGC.

GGC is available in natural form in garlic and whey protein from milk.
