In the wake of the proposed ban on the use of hydroquinone in skin whitening products, the Avicena Group has patented creatine and carnitine for use in skin care products. The products will be part of Avicena’s Nurigene skin care line which the company claims helps in cell regeneration. In addition, the use of creatine and carnitine helps to improve the firmness and elasticity of skin as well as help the skin retain moisture. The development of the products is believed to be particularly important as skin care manufacturers look for products that can treat blotches and other skin discolorations.
The patent was received from the US Patent and Trademark Office.
