The much anticipated decision has been taken and some teens may not be happy. No teen younger than 18 years of age can have cosmetic surgery in Queensland, Australia. This makes Queensland the first state in the country to place such a ban on teens having plastic surgery. This ban does not impact teens who need to have work done to correct deformities. President of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, Howard Webster supports the decision and the fact that it allows for certain exception such as the fixing of asymmetrical breasts and pinning back of ears.
Stephen Robertson, the State’s Health Minister is also proposing a ban on the use of solarium by teens as well.
