Proctor & Gamble (P&G) is reportedly considering selling off some brands with the hope of funneling the money into their beauty and health care brands. Brands being considered for sale are Pringles Chips, Folgers and Millstone Coffee and Duracell Battery. According to the Financial Times, P&G has hired the mergers and acquisitions firm, Blackstone Group to research the feasibility of the sale.
Industry analysts believe that the sale of these four brands will realize in excess of $8 billion. Reports indicated that the sales would be done by two auctions, one for the Duracell brand and the other for the food-based brands.
