Rapper Kanye West lost his beloved mom on Saturday following complications from plastic surgery. No details have been given as to what type of complications except that she passed away somewhere in the Los Angeles area.

Fifty-eight year old Dr. Donda West gave up her career in academia three years ago to manage her son’s career and business ventures. Dr. West spent over thirty years as an English professor. Prior to leaving the education field she was said to be the head of the English Department at Chicago State University.

Kanye West was raised by his mother from age three after his parents divorced.
