A new study claims that retinol not only repairs skin damaged by sun exposure, but also significantly improves skin wrinkled by natural aging. According to a report from the study, a test conducted showed that “wrinkles, roughness and overall aging severity were all significantly reduced” on the arm on which a lotion (produced at the
University of
Michigan) containing retinol was used. The researchers claim that ‘skin withstands injury and ulcer’ formation because of collagen production resulting from using retinol.
The study was conducted at the University of Michigan Medical School. The full report will be published in the May 2007 issue of Archives of Dermatology.
