A paper published in the latest issue of the International Journal of Cosmetic Science points to the fact that scented skin care products can help improve the mood of menopausal women. The study also found that the use of familiar skin care products were more likely to lighten the mood of users. The study concluded that perfumed skin care products worked best on women whose daily life was nearly devoid of ‘sensory pleasure’.
This phenomenon has given rise to what is being called the “senso-cosmetic” trend. This is reaction is believed to play a part in brand loyalty. According to Cosmeticdesign-europe.com, “senso-cosmetics” was hailed at the recently held HBA Technical Conference in
New York as “a fast developing area of research.”
