The treatment for dandruff may soon change from the way we know it. Scientists from Proctor and Gamble (P&G) have discovered the genome of the fungus that causes the annoying condition. The researchers believe that their discovery will result in the “development of better, more effective treatment options for dandruff.” According to a news article on CosmetcDesign.com, treatment of dandruff would be ‘in contrast to the ‘trial and error’ style that has been employed in the past’ since scientists now know more about the Malassezia globosa (M. globosa) fungus.
In 2006 the number of anti-dandruff products launched in
Europe was 111 showing an increase of 98 percent over the 56 launched in 2002.
