Based on reports online, it seems that the shift towards organic personal care products just got a big boost. This is due to a study which shows that seaweed could be beneficial in battling acne outbreaks. One particular type found in Brittany in the north-west of France contains an ingredient which effectively erases the signs of acne.

The extract also has shown no tendency to cause irritation of the skin. Professor Enzo Berardesca, who was involved in the study was quoted as saying, “patients with mild to moderate acne, such as blackheads, whiteheads, and skin redness, found their symptoms markedly reduced.”

The study involved 60 males whose ages ranged from 12 to 24. It was sponsored by Mentholatum which produces the OXY skincare line.
