Singapore Becoming Hub for Cosmetic R&D

Updated Jun 21, 2007

Industry insiders believe that Singapore is ripe to become the hotbed of research and development in cosmetic and skin care products. This is because cosmetic manufacturers are very interested in the natural material available in the Asia-region. In addition, there is significant research taking place in Singapore on aging in Asian women, as well as the infrastructure needed to carry out research.

According to the president of The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association of Singapore, Alain Khaiat, there has been ‘lots of research on Asian skin done over the last five to six years’.

With expected growth in the industry of over three percent per year, there is good reason for Singapore to step up to the plate.
