Skin of Bullfrogs May Contain Anti-aging Solution

Updated Mar 1, 2008

A report published in Bioresource Technology reveals that scientists in South Korea have found a solution in the skin of bullfrogs that has anti-aging properties. The solution is believed to be much better at eliminating free radicals which are known to cause skin aging. The study said that the peptide extracted from the skin and muscles of bullfrogs can be used to provide a cheaper source of synthetic vitamin E.

Team leader, Professor Kim Se-Kwon outlines the benefits of this source of synthetic vitamin E. Some of these include the fact that it is water soluble making it possible to be used for a wider variety of skincare products. Professor Kim Se-Kwon also noted that the peptide derived from the bullfrog skin is 10 percent more effective at getting rid of free radicals.

According to the report on Cosmeticsdesign-europe, synthetic vitamin E also known as dl-alpha tocopherol is also ‘associated with allergic reactions’.
