Citing the dangers from fragrances, students at
California
State
University, Stanislaus want to make the campus fragrance-free. If the school administration grants the students’ request they will join
Portland
State
University,
Cecil
College in
Maryland,
USA and the
University of
Calgary in
Canada as fragrance-free institutions. The students’ claim states that ‘musk-scented colognes or citrus-scented perfumes can be as dangerous as second-hand smoke.”
It is believed that fragrances can have adverse effects on health and make life miserable for persons who have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Scientists have stated that MCS can result in migraines, asthma, nausea, dizziness and a host of other symptoms.
