Despite the suggestion that looks don’t really matter when we select partners, especially for women, a recent study has totally debunked that long-held belief. A study by Northwestern University doctoral student, Paul Eastwick and co-author, Eli J. Finkel, assistant professor of psychology at Northwestern, has dashed cold water on many beliefs about beauty and partner selection.
Eastwick’s study isn’t the only one to support the view that looks matter when selecting our mates. Leonard Lee’s study not only indicates this, but also highlights the fact that “more attractive people are more selective in terms of the attractiveness of their potential mates…” As such beautiful people are much more likely to want a beautiful mate as a partner.
