A new study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology reveals that the use of polylactic acid (PLA) for cosmetic eye surgery can go wrong if injected incorrectly. According to the study’s author, when injected incorrectly lumps develop around the area as well as inflammation. Dermatologist, Greg Goodman who is also the author of the study, notes that LA should not be “injected superficially”, but rather, it “needs to be placed deeply below the muscles to be a safer and more effective agent.”
Goodman advises persons seeking cosmetic surgery to be leery about “trying the newest products on the market”; they should wait until the procedure has been improved over time.
