Teen Reports that Unsanitary Waxing Condition Led to Staph Infection

Updated Sep 24, 2006

An eighteen year old developed a skin infection she believes was the result of unsafe practices at a beauty salon in New Jersey. The young woman had her eyebrows waxed in February. An itchy eyebrow shortly after the procedure led to pimples that became infected. It is believed she became infected because the beauty technician used the same equipment on many clients without cleaning it.   After a round of medication the young lady was cured without any scarring.

The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council reported that almost 14,000 people were hospitalized due to Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus (MRSA).   Doctors are warning that persons pay attention to infections that seem to get worse rather than better over time. Additionally, it is advised that consumers visit reputable spas to get beauty treatments done.
