Uma Hits Back

Updated May 14, 2008

Last week actress Uma Thurman was sued by Lancôme for requesting payment for the use of her name and face for its advertising in Canadadian billboards and Asian websites although her contract had expired.

On Friday, May 9, Thurman filed a countersuit for $15 million. The suit was filed in a Manhattan federal court and claims that Lancôme profited from using her in its ads. The lawsuit also claims that the unauthorized use of her image `gave the false impression` that she was still contracted to the Company.

Thurman’s contract totally expired in December 2004.
