Former Seinfeld star Jason Alexander has joined the Jenny Craig ranks according to published reports. Alexander helped bring the laughs on the hit NBC sitcom from 1990 to 1998. He says he watching celebrity spokesperson Valerie Bertinelli shed extra pounds on the program helped him make the decision.

He was quoted as saying of his decision, “I looked at myself playing a character I started playing 20 years ago… what was disturbing is that he was no longer in a body I cared to recognize.” This came after Alexander guest starred on Larry David’s show Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The 5’ 4½ actor wants to lose 30 – 40 pounds. He also hopes to inspire others with his weight loss.
